Chief Executive Officer
Jim Allen was born in El Paso, Texas. His father was in the military and in Jim’s early years the family moved around quite often. Jim once said, "I do believe I have traveled through every state in the country at one time or another."
After marrying his wife Paula in 1988, Jim began pursuing a passion to become a police officer and attended St. Petersburg Junior College studying criminal justice. However, with their firstborn daughter arriving soon, Jim and Paula had to make a choice. Either Jim could stay in school and the new family would struggle financially, or Jim could direct his focus on work in order to take care of his family. After only three months Jim abandoned college.
At the time Jim was a security guard for a National Security Company, and held a part time job at Domino’s Pizza as a delivery driver. Realizing Jim’s energy and enthusiasm, the store manager asked Jim to come aboard as an assistant manager. Within six months Jim had his own store and was the youngest store manager in the region at the age of 20.
Jim and Paula decided to move their family to Indiana where Jim had spent much of his childhood. In 1992, Jim and Paula began their own appliance business. For several years Jim had been an appliance repair technician and in 2004 he designed and invented a tool for the appliance repair industry. "The Allenbar" has been sold worldwide and continues this day to be an exciting part of the business.
In 2006, Jim launched Appliance Zone with the help of his wife Paula, their four children and less than $1,000. Since then, Appliance Zone has become one of the leading online Appliance Parts retailers in the United States with estimated sales exceeding twenty million dollars in 2011.
When he has time, Jim enjoys football and racing (note the Appliance Zone race car on the home page). Most of all though, he enjoys working long hours at Appliance Zone and coming up with better ways to serve their customers.
